SCHOOL - DOWNSTAIRS HOUSE

Here are more pictures Ben took at the School, yesterday. These are of the "house" we built my parents. I'm going to describe it, as it was built, because we're not sure how these rooms are going to play into the big picture of what we're going to do with the rest of the School. I'd say we were maybe, 95% finished with the house, when we had to come home. It still needs baseboards, floors stained, etc, and lots of minor stuff. As you come thru the back door, (the back door is the door on the right, in this picture), the area to the right is the kitchen/den. If you go thru the door at the other end, beside the pantry cabinets, to the left is an office, and to the right is a laundry room and 1/2 bath.
Another view of the kitchen. We put up 5 ceiling fans in the kitchen/ den area..
This is the office. We took down plaster walls to expose the brick, removed drop ceilings, which took the ceilings back to the original 12', and removed old carpet and tile to expose the hardwood floors. And installed another ceiling fan. We also had to rebuild the top 1/3 of the windows and doors, they were cut off when the drop ceilings were put in. To give you an idea of the size and scale of the rooms, this window is 4' x 8', as are most of the other windows, in the Old School. The floors are in good condition, they're just really dusty from all the construction.
This is the laundry room and 1/2 bath. A cabinet is going to be built around the sink. The laundry area is to the left.
If you scroll back up to the top pictures, you'll see another door, on the other side of the office. This is that door, from the other side. This is the formal Living and Dining Room.
Another view, same area. Same thing in here, removed plaster walls, removed drop ceilings, pulled up carpet and tile floors.
This is the opposite wall from the one with the door. This opening will become a 6' wide, 11' tall opening, into a small formal Entrance Hall, and directly across from that will be double French doors with a transom window. The small area that will be the Entrance Hall, was a coat closet. There is an exact replica on the other side of a 15' wide area, that will become the Front Entrance into the School. (Where the Pacman thing is now). Same thing will happen on the other side of the 15' Front Entrance, a small Formal Entrance, into what was to be our Formal Living and Dining Room. They will be mirrored images, French doors to my parents Formal areas and French doors to our Formal areas.
Once you leave the Living and Dining Rooms and go thru the office, this is the view of the kitchen.
The doors to the right, are 2 bedrooms, the door straight ahead is a bathroom.
This is that bathroom. This is the shower, in that bathroom.
This is the first bedroom to the right, we had to keep the drop ceilings in the 2 bedrooms and bathrooms, to house the Heat and AC units. This is the other bedroom. The door to the left is the other bathroom. This is that bathroom. This is the shower in that bathroom.
If you turned around, this is the view you would have.
