This is my great Uncle Jack. A lot of people consider him their "Uncle Jack". He was married to my mother's mother's sister, Aunt Margaret. Years ago, our family had things that he painted, but no one seemed to like them, so they were sold at yard sales, given away or possibly even thrown away. This was in the 60's, before I started trying to save and recycle everything.

This book showcases American Folk Art from the H.W. Hempill Jr. Collection.We have a copy that's been in our family for years, one that was given to Uncle Jack by a friend, and also signed by Herbert Hempill, Jr.

It's printed in Japanese, which seems strange to me. I guess they like American Folk Art. These are two pages out of the book.
